Christmas Shorts with... Claudia Carroll

I'm delighted to be able to welcome bestselling author Claudia Carroll to my blog for today's Christmas Shorts feature.  Claudia has written 9 books to date including A Very Accidental Love Story which I reviewed earlier this year.

What is your earliest Christmas memory?
My awful older brother telling me that were was no such thing as Santa. To this day, I’ve yet to forgive him….!

What is your favourite Christmas tradition?
Ahem, wine. And chocolate. Lots of it. Quality St, family sized tins go down a treat in my house. But then, we’re a very grub-orientated house this time of year.

What is or was the best book-related Christmas gift that you’ve received?
Getting an iPad....it's completely changed my life...and reading habits!

What is your favourite Christmas book?
Hmmm...hard call! Though you can't really beat A Christmas Carol, can you?

What is your favourite Christmas film?
As a kid, it was The Muppet Christmas Carol. Now that I'm surprisingly mature, it's the original Pride and Prejudice, the one with Greer Garson. OK, so not strictly Christmassy... but it's got corsets and bonnets in it and a scene set in snow.

What is your favourite Christmas song?
Do They Know It's Christmas by Band Aid takes me back to my youth.

And the Pogues 'Fairytale of New York,' gets me every time.

If you could spend Christmas anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?
I once had the pleasure of spending Christmas in New York...and it was just magical. You won't believe this, but the shops are open even on Christmas Day! So if you're a bargain-hunter like me, you need never miss a single minute.

What are you looking forward to most this Christmas?
The Downton Abbey Christmas special. And of course, the chocolate.....

Will you be making a new years resolution?
Yeah, same one I do every year. To give up bad language, I'm not messing, my language is a f***cking disgrace. You see? There I go again.

Who would you like to kiss under the mistletoe?
That'd be telling! I do have a big thing about Michael Fassbender at the moment though.

What one thing would you like to receive in your stocking?
The new Jojo Moyes book please!

Finally a few quick fire questions to finish

Christmas at Home or Away? Home this year, but would kill love to be away....
Mulled Wine or Winter Pimms? Mulled wine. With Cinnamon. Yumm......
Sprouts... Delicious or evil? I'm a complete weirdo who actually loves sprouts. I know, bizarre.
Yule Log or Mince Pie? Mince pie, but it has to be covered in full fat cream. If you're gonna take the calorie hit, might as well do it in style.
A Christmas Carol or Hogfather? A Christmas Carol. Love it!
Miracle on 34th Street or It's a Wonderful Life? Oh It's a Wonderful life for defo. I can never get over how dark it is and when you think it was made in the 1940's that's really saying something....
