Guest Post: Hopelessly Devoted to Holden Finn Dream Cast by Tilly Tennant

Yesterday Louise reviewed Hopelessly Devoted to Holden Finn and today I'm delighted to welcome Tilly Tennant to my blog to talk about her dream cast.

I’m very excited to be here on Shaz’s Book Blog talking about my ideal casting for Hopelessly Devoted to Holden Finn. After getting published, it’s every author’s dream to get their book made into a film and we spend many a long hour idly daydreaming about who would star in our precious stories, so a request like this is just too good to turn down!

I think my writing is unmistakably British, and so, just like the great JKR, I would have to insist on a British cast too… apart from all the non-British characters of course! I spent far too long looking at yummy photos of yummy men for this post and watching TV (all in the name of research, you understand). What was interesting about doing this was when I threw the question out to Twitter. I had very different responses about who should play the parts of Max and Holden in particular. One lovely blogger reviewed Hopelessly Devoted to Holden Finn on release and had already put together her own dream cast without any prompting from me and her choices were quite different from mine, although still fantastic. It made me think about how people read an author’s work and what connections it can spark. And although many of the suggestions from readers were brilliant, in the end, I had to go with my own choices, although I’m happy for other people to cast according to what they see in their own heads (or whoever takes their fancy!).

So, here it is, my dream cast. You can see the list with glorious photos and bios of the actors here… http://www.imdb.com/list/qXcAU-sHjYE/ But I have briefly listed them below too.

Aneurin Barnard – Holden Finn

Holden was the easiest. As soon as I saw Aneurin in Moonfleet over Christmas he stuck in my head as the perfect Holden, even before I had considered having to create a dream cast.

Kate Winslet – Bonnie Cartwright

Bonnie was perhaps the most difficult to cast but I think that Kate is such a versatile actress she can pull just about any role off. I could definitely see her as a thirty-something yummy mummy.

Louisa Connolly-Burnham – Paige Cartwright

Not a very well known actress, Louisa features in a show called Wolfblood that my daughters watch on CBBC. She looks completely different in that role – very geeky and not at all glamorous. But given a makeover she is stunning and would make a wonderful, sultry Paige.

Bradley James – Max Delaney

Blonde, cheeky, handsome. Perfectly Max!

Camille Coduri – Jeanie Cartwright

Jeanie was another difficult find. Until we watched some Doctor Who re-runs and I realised that my Jeanie was right in front of my face! Camille is a little younger than Jeanie but as Jeanie looks so good for her age, I think we could get away with it.

Eoin Macken – Henri Chasse

Eoin is Irish, but I really hope he can do French accents because his suave good looks make him a great Henri.

I hope you enjoy viewing the page on IMDb as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

And feel free to leave your suggestions about who you would like to see in the cast.

Hopelessly Devoted to Holden Finn:

There’s only one man for Bonnie, and that’s Holden Finn. The problem is that Holden Finn is a twenty-three-year-old pop megastar with his boy band, Every Which Way, and has no idea she exists. Not only that, but half the women in the world want to be Mrs Finn, including Bonnie’s teenage daughter, Paige. The real men in Bonnie’s life do nothing but let her down, but a man you can’t possibly have can never do that… right? Then Paige wins a radio competition to meet Holden and the band, and Bonnie’s carefully-constructed world starts to unravel. She is about to find out that you should be very, very careful what you wish for...

About Tilly:

Tilly Tennant was born in Dorset, the oldest of four children, but now lives in Staffordshire with a family of her own. After years of dismal and disastrous jobs, including paper plate stacking, shop girl, newspaper promotions and waitressing (she never could carry a bowl of soup without spilling a bit), she decided to indulge her passion for the written word by embarking on a degree in English and creative writing, graduating in 2009 with first class honours. She wrote her first novel for young adults in 2007 during a summer break at university and has not stopped writing since. She also works as a freelance fiction editor, and considers herself very lucky that this enables her to read many wonderful books before the rest of the world gets them.
