Books Read: Annie Lyons - Not Quite Perfect

Sometimes having it all isn’t enough…

Emma has everything she’s ever wanted. Her boyfriend’s just proposed and her career has finally taken off. And so what if her latest client just happens to be downright gorgeous? She’s getting married. Isn’t she?

Rachel’s married with 2.4 children (well, actually, 3) and life is all about trying to leave the house in a non-stained top. Once it was about skinny cappuccinos, cocktails and dynamic ad agency meetings. She wants her old life back, but can it ever be the same?

Today I am taking part in the blog tour for Not Quite Perfect  by Annie Lyons, which is Carina UK's first print publication, with a review and giveaway.  But as the blog tour coincided with my feature week it seemed fitting to do a feature day for Annie so I also have a Q&A later.

Not Quite Perfect revolves around the lives and loves of two sisters Emma and Rachel; one is a newly-engaged career focused woman whilst the other is a married stay-at-home mum who is busy looking after her three young children.  On paper their lives couldn't be more different but both women are facing similar issues in their personal lives so will they be able to help each other see what's right in front of their eyes before it's too late?

I've actually read the Not Quite Perfect books in reverse as read the follow up novella Not Quite Perfect Christmas last year as part of my Christmas reading challenge so it was great to be able to go back to beginning and get to know the characters properly.

As well as Emma and Rachel we are introduced to a whole host of interesting secondary characters in the form of family, work colleagues and friends especially Rachel's friend Christa and young Lily who both came out with some classic one liners that made me LOL.

Not Quite Perfect was definitely the perfect title as life wasn't 'perfect' for Emma and Rachel, they are real women that I'm sure that most of us could relate to one of them or maybe even a mix of them both.  Their lives have both been thrown into disarray by certain events so it's a case of seeing how they adapt and deal with them to come out the other side.

A fabulous debut from Annie Lyons and I'd definitely recommend that you follow it with Not Quite Perfect Christmas to see what happens next.

I'd like to thank the lovely Sara at Carina UK for sending me a copy of Not Quite Perfect to review.  And she has also offered me an additional copy to give away to one lucky follower so if you love the sound of the book get entering via the Rafflecopter form below.
