Every year I look forward to the next Lulu Taylor novel coming out and this year was no exception.
The two central characters in the book are Daisy, a young woman from a privileged background where anything she wants she gets as money is no object, and Chanelle, a young girl who was brought up with nothing on a rough council estate by her single alcoholic mother. At first there's no obvious connection between the two girls other than they were both born on the same day.
But things soon change for both of the young women shortly after their 18th birthday when events happen sees both of their lives turned upside down. Daisy has been left out in the cold after being rejected by the father she idolised and Chanelle who has escaped from the estate after witnessing a traumatic event. Both Daisy and Chanelle now have to make new lives for themselves by whatever means possible.
There are plenty of twists and turns within the story and although both girls are completely different I found both extremely likeable and I wanted things to work out right for both of them in the end. This book had me gripped from the first page and despite it being over 600 pages long, I didn't want the story to end.
