Books Read: Phillipa Ashley - It Happened One Night

Sophie McBride has been in love with Adam Templar for as long as she can remember. Talented, brilliant and sexy, he shines like the sun over the tiny Lakeland village where she's grown up. I haven't read any of Phillipa Ashley's recent books so when I saw that Fiction Addiction Book Tours were organising the blog tour for her latest book, It Happened One Night, I signed up and I wasn't disappointed.

Sophie McBride had always had a huge crush on Adam Templar as a teenager and for one brief moment it looked like they were finally going to be together but a dramatic incident during his sister's party tore them apart forever...

Ten years later Sophie is still living in their home village of Langmere running a successful business, Sticky Muffin, whilst Adam has made a name for himself as a film producer.  But their paths are about to cross once more when Adam returns home with a girlfriend and film crew to make a costume drama starring Harry Lennox.  Will they be able to resume their friendship or is there too much water under the bridge?

The secondary characters all added to the drama especially Harry who was such a larger than life character and certainly lived up to his image of a playboy flirting with all the locals including Sophie's business partner Lily and Sophie's brother Nathan who is not prepared to let bygones be bygones...   

This was such an easy book to read as the story flowed effortlessly and you're soon drawn into the highs and lows of Sophie and Adam's life wondering whether their lives would ever be the same again.  If you're looking for a little bit of escapism this summer I'd definitely recommend this book.
