Christmas Reading Challenge: Talli Roland - Last Christmas

For Lucy, the best Christmas present is forgetting the past.

Eager to banish the ghost of Christmas past - when her boyfriend dumped her on the streets of Paris - Lucy is determined to make this the best Christmas ever. She rallies friends and family for an epic celebration that just happens to fall on the same day as her ex's festive wedding. Furious at how she's been treated, Lucy can't help relishing the party v wedding smackdown.

But when the wedding is threatened and only Lucy can help, can she find the spirit inside to save the day, or will this Christmas be even more disastrous than the last?

Lucy is not looking forward to Christmas this year after everything that happened to her the previous year whilst on a romantic break with her ex boyfriend Robert.  But worse is yet to come when she bumps into Robert, with his new fiance, and she's shocked to discover that they are getting married on Christmas day, a year to the day since he and Lucy split up.

When he asks her what she's doing for Christmas she tells  him a fib and says she's throwing a party! So with the help of her assistant Mimi she starts to plan one spectacular party, and after meeting a new man it looks like she has plenty now to look forward to.  But when she finds that her party is threatening to ruin Robert's wedding plans, does she care enough to scale back her party and save his big day?

Even though this was a novella there was still a lot crammed into the story but yet it didn't feel rushed, I loved reading how Lucy was overcoming her pain at the rejection and beginning to enjoy life again.  Talli Roland's descriptive writing really brought the characters to life and I have to confess that as much as I liked Lucy, my favourite was the quirky Mimi who was such a bubbly character.

Despite having bought several of Talli Roland's previous novels, Last Christmas is the first of her stories that I've read so I definitely need to make a book resolution for 2014 to make a dent into all the unread books on my Kindle including Talli's!

I'd like to thank Talli for sending me a copy of this novella to review.
