Countdown to Christmas Day 9: Festive Fun Q&A with Lindsey Kelk

Today Lindsey Kelk is answering a few festive questions as part of my Countdown to Christmas feature.  I can't believe we're in the second week of December already!

Do you have any family traditions that you always follow?
I’m a Christmasaholic so I have so many traditions although I started most of them! I put the tree up as early as possible, usually on the 1st although since I moved to NYC, I’ve been putting it up even earlier. A friend of mine puts hers up on the Saturday after Thanksgiving so I get a whole extra week. AMAZING.

Do you do the whole traditional Christmas dinner or have alternative?
Totally traditional. As much food as can be humanly consumed.

What’s your favourite Christmas song or carol?
Christmas Wrapping by The Waitresses although Last Christmas and All I Want For Christmas come close.

What film do you hope to curl up and watch on Christmas afternoon?
I’ll watch whatever’s on TV. And I make everyone sit in silence through the Dr Who Christmas special or they have to leave the room.

Which singer/band would you like to turn up carol singing at your door?
Anyone who has ever seen a single tweet from me would not be surprised to hear me say I wouldn’t mind The National trotting up. I think they would do a fine version of God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen.

If you could spend Christmas anywhere in the world, where would it be?
For the most part, I would want to be at home, either in NYC or Yorkshire but this year has been exhausting and I wouldn’t say no to a week in Hawaii.

What’s top of your wishlist this Christmas?
Weirdly there isn’t anything specific on my mind this year. I wouldn’t say no to a Proenza Schouler satchel though.

Now a few quickfire questions to close...

Tree: real or artificial? Real! Always!

Fairy Lights: White or Multi-Coloured? White. I’m a total nazy about it as well.

Drink: Mulled Wine or Bucks Fizz? Bucks Fizz. I’m a champers gal.

Food: Mince Pies or Xmas Pud? Hmm. Mince pies as long as my nana has made them.

Games: Monolopy, Trivial Pursuit or something else? I’m not allowed to play board games. Seriously, I’m hatefully competitive, it’s awful.

  1. Great answers! I have to agree with the champagne answer too.
