Books Read: Melissa Foster - Taken by Love

Daisy Honey fled Trusty, Colorado, after years of battling rumors sparked by her gorgeous looks and lust-inducing name. Now a physician on the brink of a promising career, she reluctantly returns home when her father is injured in a farming accident. Daisy expects the small-town girls who hurt her in the past to take cheap shots again—but she’s completely unprepared for a run-in with tall, dark, and wickedly sexy Luke Braden, the only man who has ever stood up for her—and the man she’s never forgotten.

Luke Braden is handsome, wealthy, and the best damn gypsy horse breeder in the Midwest. After a restless youth, he’s finally ready to settle down—only connecting with women is nothing like connecting with horses, and he’s never met a woman worth the energy. After an arrest in a neighboring town, Luke’s past comes back to haunt him, and he realizes that his inability to find love runs deeper than he ever imagined.

A chance encounter sweeps Luke and Daisy into a world of passion. For the first time ever, Luke feels a connection, but Daisy’s life in Trusty is anything but permanent, and Luke can’t manage a future until he puts his past to rest.

Having previously reviewed some of the previous books in Melissa Foster's Love in Bloom series featuring The Braden's, I was pleased to see that we have a new branch of the family to get to know, their cousins who we'll be meeting over the next 6 books.

In Taken by Love we meet handsome Luke who is better equipped at dealing with his horses than he is women and Daisy Honey who has returned home to Trusty to take care of her father after an accident.  But being home has opened up a whole lot of bad memories for Daisy who had been taunted and bullied as a teenager and a chance encounter with Luke takes her back to one particular night when he came to her rescue...

Both Daisy and Luke were strong characters in their own rights but at the same time they both had their flaws and insecurities which make them all the more real as no-one, no matter what they might like us to think, is perfect.  There was no denying the immediate chemistry that they both feel when they meet again after all of these years but will they be able to deal with history, rumours and job opportunities to make a future together or will there be one hurdle to many for them to overcome?

As a fan of book series I like the fact that throughout her stories we get introduced to characters that we'll start to get to know more of when their own stories are told later in the series, in this case it's Luke's sister Emily and brothers Wes and Ross.  In fact I'm already looking forward to reading Wes' story Fated for Love which I'll be reviewing next month.

I'd like to thank the author and Fiction Addiction Book Tours for sending me a copy of this eBook to review.

As part of her blog tour Melissa Foster is running a giveaway for copies of the previous book in the series, Read, Write, Love but it ends tomorrow so you'll have to hurry if this sounds like a book you'd love to win to read.
