Another of the festive eBooks that I wanted to review in December was this collection of short stories from bestselling author Katie Fforde, most of which had been published separately but were all new to me apart from From Scotland with Love which I read and reviewed last year.

One of the unique elements of the collection was the way they were presented as courses of a feast, starting with 4 extremely short but sweet stories that made up the Champagne and Canapes course to get us into the mood, followed swiftly by stories representing the rest of the courses before finishing with another collection of stories for the Coffee and Chocolate Truffles course, 12 stories in total.

As you might expect from the title of the collection food does feature quite highly in most of the stories too.  We meet Evie and Edward who bump into each other in a supermarket, journalist Emily as she goes undercover in an award winning restaurant but my personal favourite was Staying Away at Christmas which features two single parents, Miranda and Anthony, and their families who find themselves double booked into the same holiday home for Christmas...

I always struggle writing reviews for short stories because they are just that and with this being a collection of them you can't really elaborate much more without giving spoilers.  So all I will recommend is that you have something to hand, savoury or sweet, as I can guarantee that your tastebuds will be salivating at times whilst you are reading this charming collection of stories.  And the best thing about them is that they're perfect for when you've only got a few minutes to yourself to pick up and read one of the stories and come back to the next one later...
