It's time for the final giveaway of this year's blogiversary celebrations and it's only fitting that since today is Halloween to have a Halloween themed prize package of some Halloween sweets & chocolate, mini Horror themed bookmarks but have also decided to offer the winner a choice of a spooky/horror paperback book of their choice.
As I'm not a fan of scary books I asked on Twitter for some suggestions so these are just a few of the book that were suggested that you might want to consider or you can ignore all of these and choose a different book (up to a value of £7.)
Say Her Name by James Dawson
Drip...drip...drip...In five days, she will come...
Roberta 'Bobbie' Rowe is not the kind of person who believes in ghosts. A Halloween dare at her ridiculously spooky boarding school is no big deal, especially when her best friend Naya and cute local boy Caine agree to join in too. They are ordered to summon the legendary ghost of Bloody Mary: say her name five times in front of a candlelit mirror, and she shall appear...But, surprise surprise, nothing happens. Or does it?
Next morning, Bobbie finds a message on her bathroom mirror - five days - but what does it mean? And who left it there? Things get increasingly weird and more terrifying for Bobbie and Naya, until it becomes all too clear that Bloody Mary was indeed called from the afterlife that night, and she is definitely not a friendly ghost. Bobbie, Naya and Caine are now in a race against time before their five days are up and Mary comes for them, as she has come for countless others before..
This House is Haunted by John Boyne
1867. On a dark and chilling night Eliza Caine arrives in Norfolk to take up her position as governess at Gaudlin Hall. As she makes her way across the station platform, a pair of invisible hands push her from behind into the path of an approaching train. She is only saved by the vigilance of a passing doctor.
It is the start of a journey into a world of abandoned children, unexplained occurrences and terrifying experiences which Eliza will have to overcome if she is to survive the secrets that lie within Gaudlin’s walls…
Dark Tides by Chris Ewan
From the number one bestselling author of SAFE HOUSE comes a story about friendship, family, secrets, lies, and the things we do for love.
When Claire Cooper was eight, her mother disappeared during Hop-tu-naa, the Manx Halloween.
When Claire was eighteen, she and her friends took part in a Hop-tu-naa dare that went terribly wrong.
Now in her early twenties and a police officer, what happened that Hop-tu-naa night has come back to haunt them all, and Claire must confront her deepest fears in order to stop a killer from striking again.
Blood Harvest by Sharon Bolton
Sometimes I wish that she’d just leave me in peace . . .
Psychologist Evi is worried about one of her patients – a woman who is convinced her little girl is still alive. Two years after the fire that burnt their house down.
Meanwhile, the new vicar in town is feeling strangely unwelcome. Disturbing events seem designed to scare him away.
And a young boy keeps seeing a strange, solitary girl playing in the churchyard. Who is she and what is she trying to tell him?
Trick or Treat by Jackson Sharp
As Halloween approaches, the mutilated body of a young woman is found in a remote field, posed to resemble a piece of ancient religious art.
Then, when another body is displayed to similarly chilling effect, it's clear that there is a link between the two murders. As panic spreads across Oxford, DI Lauren Rose must stop a killer with a dark and dangerous obsession.
But as the investigation deepens, Rose realises that the city is being stalked by an evil that has revealed itself before far from Oxford. And that there is a pattern. A reason for the name The Halloween Killer . . .
The winner will be selected at random when the giveaway ends and contacted for their address and book choice (which will then be ordered to be posted direct to them from Amazon or The Book Depository), I'll be posting the Halloween sweets and bookmarks separately.

This house is haunted sounds a great read! My favourite horror stories are by the late Richard Laymon and James Herbert. Resurrection dreams, The Quake, All Hallow's Eve and The Secret of Crickley Hall, to me, are brilliant reads. I've also enjoyed some of Stephen King's books too. Thank you Sharon for enabling us to enter into another great competition. Xxx
ReplyDeleteI don't really have a favorite. Sometimes I get so scared, I have to take a break from them.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read that many horror books. I read a few Stephen King when I was younger. My most memorable book (I have reviewed it on my blog) is Frozen Charlotte by Alex Bell. It was very creepy, but so good.
