I'd like to thank Rachel at Arrow Publishing for inviting me to be a part of this blog tour and for my copy of A Mrs Miracle Christmas to review.

It just wouldn't be the festive season without a Debbie Macomber novel and this year is no exception as readers new and old to her books have another fabulous feel-good read to look forward to in A Mrs Miracle Christmas.  It's been years since I read the original Mrs Miracle books, Mrs Miracle and Call Me Mrs Miracle - both of which have been adapted into TV movies which I have watched many times - so it was like being reunited with an old friend spreading her magic to those who need her.

When Laurel McCullough returns home from work to find policemen at the door with her confused grandmother Helen she knows it's time to seek help, and before she knows it her guardian angel arrives in the form of Emily Merkel aka Mrs Miracle.  But it's not just Helen that she's come to help, she seems to know what Laurel and Zach are thinking or need before they even say anything!

One thing I know when I open a Debbie Macomber book is that I'll find a warm hug within the pages as she's known for her positivity and faith within her writing. But that's not to say that it was all sweetness and light within this book, far from it as she wasn't afraid to deal with the sensitive topics of dementia and infertility. It was sad to see how scared that Helen was to leave the house alone for fear of forgetting who she was or where she lives, and the frustration she felt not being able to express herself clearly to those she loved. But within days of her companion Mrs Miracle arriving, Helen was like a new woman with a busy social circle and a secret that gave her something to look forward to.

As for the situation that Laurel and Zach were in, the pain and anguish they were both feeling was palpable after numerous attempts at IVF and a failed adoption meant they were still without the one thing they both desperately craved... a baby.  I really felt for Zach as he really wanted to be strong and support his wife but yet he was hurting just as much as she was. It was great to see that the author explored the impact that infertility had on both Zach and Laurel as typically the focus is normally on the woman and the partner is neglected. Will they get their miracle, you'll have to read for yourself to find out.

This book came at the perfect time for me as it was just the entertaining, uplifting read that I needed when I was feeling a bit jaded. There were so many special moments whilst reading that brought a smile, all I'll say is that a few other old friends might have made an appearance and did some meddling, and I might have also shed a tear at one point as I was swept along with the magical story that was unfolding.

A Mrs Miracle Christmas would be the perfect gift this Christmas to bring a bit of festive cheer into someone's life. Now where can I find my own Mrs Miracle?
