Many thanks to Avon Books via NetGalley for my copy of Meet Me at Pebble Beach Part Two: In Too Deep to review and to Sharon for having my review on the blog.

Well In Too Deep, part two in Bella Osborne's new series Meet Me at Pebble Beach, was equally as enjoyable as the first part which introduced us to Regan where we were informed of the major calamity that had befallen her. Normally I find books spilt into serials tend to waver in the second and third parts before picking up again for the finale but this wasn't the case here and the story goes from strength to strength. In fact I really do think it's one of the best books Bella Osborne has ever written. Everything moved along at a great pace and not a chapter was wasted. There was no filling in and I felt we really moved away from the events in part one which had set everything nicely up for the remainder of the book. The foundations had been laid and they were built upon brilliantly.

When I say move away I don't mean all the events that had occurred had been forgotten about. They gave us the basis for the story and now that Regan is slowly starting to come to terms with what has happened to her she begins to realise she can't remain in a sorry state for herself bemoaning what has occurred. She needs to get out there and claw her way back to some sort of happy state of mind and turn her life around. The way in which sets about doing this was so enjoyable to read and I flew threw part two which only whetted my appetite to see what was to come in the remaining two parts.

Having been left on a cliffhanger with the ending of Out of the Blue it was resolved somewhat at the beginning of In Too Deep but that's not to say I was overjoyed to read what the outcome was. It put Regan in a precarious position in which she has to do some deep thinking and decide should she go down a road that may lead to heartbreak or should she step away from something that could bring much joy? She really was caught between a rock and a hard place and between that issue and trying to keep the fact she had lost her job and was living in a small artists studio secret from her best friend Cleo she was maintaining a fine balancing act. One little slip of the tongue and things really could have gone belly up for her.

What I really liked though that with a little nudge in the right direction from her new friend, firefighter Charlie, was that Regan grabbed a little bit initiative and ran with it. A spark of an idea set forth in motion a whole new storyline and I loved the way it was developed. Focusing on perhaps a slightly sadder aspect of the overall plot would have brought down the overall optimistic and hopeful tone of the book and I was glad that this didn't happen. After all this is a story where one must look to the positives in establishing new and happy steps in life.

Regan knows that she needs to earn some money and fast and the idea to set up a stall at the local market was brilliant. The title In Too Deep really came into its own as she appeared like a fish out of water as she struggled to think of something new and creative that hadn't been done before. The jam and chutney making idea using left over fruits and vegetables from the market was brilliant and led to a very funny scene in her Dad's kitchen. The humour throughout was balanced so well with some of the more serious issues at play. But it showed that Regan was turning a corner and that she wasn't going to give up and she understands she can't sit around forever. No one is going to offer a new life on a plate, that she needs to get out there and work for it herself.

A quick mention to the storyline regarding Kevin the homeless man Regan has befriended and his dog Elvis. It's a bit hard to read at times and I hope it does go in a positive direction but I love how it is being weaved in around the overall storyline. As for Regan's Dad, I have my suspicions as to what is going on there so it will be interesting to see am I proven correct or am I way off the mark?

In Too Deep was another brilliant read. OK it may be a quick read but in these troubling times when your mind can't settle to anything for longer periods of time it is the perfect anecdote to take your mind off things for a short while. Again we are left with another cliff hanger ending which makes you want to get your hands on part three Sink or Swim as soon as possible. I can't wait to discover what's next in store for Regan and co especially as things seemed to be on the up for her.
