I don't know about you but I have really struggled during the last year or so with everything that has been going on in the world which has sadly also affected my reading and blogging. Who knew when I last stepped off a train last March after another brilliant book event in London that it would be the last trip anywhere for a while. Since then we've seen various lockdowns, restrictions and many people like myself working from home but the hardest thing I've struggled with is the isolation due to living alone and not being able to catch up with friends in person.
However, it does look like we're finally seeing a glimmer of light at the end of the very long tunnel as slowly things are getting back to a new sense of normal. Non essential shops are now reopen, the vaccination programme is underway (I have my second jab in a couple of weeks) and we can now catch up with a small number of friends or family outside. Personally I'm in no rush to go away anywhere but I do know that many others are looking forward to being able to travel further than staying local to go visit their families.
During lockdown I have been supporting small businesses and ordering gifts and books online so I want to do the same with this giveaway. I'll be gathering a list of independent bookshops who offer a postal option so that I can order direct from one of them for the book to be posted direct to the winner. Sadly I'm probably going to have to restrict this to UK residents only unless I can do the same with bookshops in the winner's country.
*Terms and Conditions* – As with all giveaways on the blog the giveaway is open to existing followers. The winner will be selected at random via Rafflecopter from all valid entries and will be notified by email and/or Twitter. Any personal data given as part of the competition entry is used for this purpose only and will not be shared with third parties and will be deleted once receipt of the prize has been confirmed. NB. Please do not add details of this giveaway to other sites without my permission.

ReplyDeleteSadly the last independent bookshop for miles closed down a couple of years ago, now we only have chains. So I'd really love to find a list of indies that offer postal options.
ReplyDeleteThanks for a lovely giveaway Sharon. I second Bert's Books for helpfulness and free postage.
ReplyDeleteThe Bookshop Mold - an independent bookshop in Mold, North Wales - offers free postage to the UK mainland. I think you would have to contact them to ask about international delivery.
