As regulars of the blog will know I am a huge fan of Irish fiction and have been ever since I was a child, partially due to my Northern Irish mother's influence who introduced me to authors such as Maeve Binchy and Patricia Scanlan.
To this day my love for reading anything Irish continues, either stories set in Ireland or written by Irish authors, so how could I not include an Irish book as part of my blogiversary celebrations ;-)
I recently interviewed Jennifer Burke about her second novel Levi's Gift and thanks to the lovely Ailbhe at Poolbeg I have a copy to give away to one lucky follower (I haven't even read this one myself yet!).
Inside those walls was a man, as young as I was, learning how to become a man of God. He owns my heart to this day. Levi's Gift tells the story of Lena and her daughter Mattie who has just given birth to a stillborn son. Following Mattie's spiral into depression, Lena takes her from their home in America to Italy in an attempt to rescue her and rekindle in her the sense of family and identity she lost after the death of her child. But this requires Lena to reveal what she experienced as a young woman in Italy the love she has secretly treasured all her life. She hopes that by encountering the past together, they can find hope for the future.

Brilliant competition :-) All entered, thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoy fiction by Irish authors too. Thanks Shaz!
ReplyDeleteCommenting again as the previous one seems to have disappeared! I often find books about child loss quite challenging to read, but they can be worth it.
ReplyDeleteHi Sharon, You have blocked me on Twitter, is it just me you want to block or the comping community that follows me? Let me know & I can take your competitions off my blog Thank You
ReplyDeleteSorry not sure what happened there, I've only blocked a few people who were following then unfollowing and following again. As I said in the terms the competitions are only eligible for TRUE followers of my blog
DeleteThank You Sharon, I am having trouble with rafflecopter to twitter connection. Usually when you already follow someone on twitter it comes up on the rafflecopter as shaded out because you are following them. Mine isn't doing that so unless I un follow you then follow you again it does not register as a entry. So that may be why you blocked me. I have messaged rafflecopter on there website to ask if they can sort it out, but I had no reply I will try to get a reply on rafflecopter twitter account. I'm wondering if I'm having this problem others may be as well that could be why you are getting the following/unfollowing xxx
